Experience the Sound Walk at Look Park
It's time to bid farewell to our Sound Walk at Look Park. Join us for a guided tour of the installation. We'll gather at the Garden House at 5:45 PM, where Look Park Executive Director Justin Pelis, Ecce’s Artistic Director John Aylward, and Bombyx Founder Cassandra Holden will welcome guests before leading a guided exploration of the Sound Walk.
We'll depart promptly at 6 PM. Transportation throughout the park will be provided for those with mobility concerns. The experience concludes with a reception at the Garden House at 7:30pm (more or less). Refreshments will be available at the end of the stroll.
This is a rain or shine event so please dress appropriately for the weather. We're in New England, after all.
Ample parking is available adjacent to the Garden House.
Meet Your Guides
JOHN AYLWARD
John Aylward is Ecce’s Artistic Director. He has earned major honors from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute, the Fromm Foundation, MacDowell, and many other foundations and institutions for classical music. He was born and raised in the Sonoran Desert and now lives in Northampton, Massachusetts. He teaches music composition at Clark University.
CASSANDRA HOLDEN
Cassandra Holden is the Executive Director and Founder of Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity, located in Florence, MA. Prior to that, she spent many years producing festivals and multi-disciplinary arts events throughout the Northeast. She has worked with WayFinders, the largest non-profit affordable housing developer in Massachusetts, to bring public art into their properties and create residency opportunities for visual and performing artists. She has taught at the Care Center, an alternative educational program for pregnant and parenting teens, creating large scale collaborative sculpture with students and helping to launch Roque House, a shared community arts space situated within Library Commons in Holyoke, MA.
JUSTIN PELIS
Justin Pelis is the Executive Director of Look Memorial Park in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he oversees the long-term stewardship and continued growth of the 153-acre nonprofit park. With more than two decades of experience in finance, horticulture, landscape management, business, and nonprofit leadership, Justin is committed to strengthening Look Park as a vibrant community resource. He is passionate about preserving the Park’s unique character while creating a sustainable future that will serve generations to come.
The Look Park Sound Walk was created this past summer as part of the 2026 Etchings Festival. The festival invited six emerging composers to create new works crafted specifically for the unique landscape of Northampton’s Look Park.
